New series Doctor Who Figures and Sonic Screwdriver launched
Hot on the heels of the very first episode from the new series of Doctor Who that aired on BBC One on Saturday April 3rd 2010, Character Options is proud to announce the release of a new Eleventh Doctor’s Crash Set and a replica of his trusted Sonic Screwdriver.
Both eagerly awaited pieces were released for sale after the first episode screened, to the delight of stalwart Doctor Who fans and the scores of children up and down the country eager to emulate the new Doctor played by Matt Smith.
The first of the new items is the Eleventh Doctor’s ‘Crash’ Set, a twin pack of figures that will enable the recreation of scenes from the ‘The Eleventh Hour’ featuring two authentic Eleventh Doctor five inch action figures.
Modeled to replicate the moment when the Eleventh Doctor’s TARDIS crashed into the garden of young Amelia Pond, the first figure is still wearing the remains of the Tenth Doctor’s suit, ripped and raggedy from the damage after the TARDIS control room exploded - an appearance that left Amelia knowing him as the ‘Raggedy Doctor’.
The second figure depicts the Doctor when he returns to Amelia’s life 12 years later after he has selected himself a new outfit, ‘borrowed’ from various lockers at the local hospital. Tweed jacket, bow tie and boots in place, the Eleventh Doctor is now ready to face the future…
Also hitting shelves on Easter Monday is The Eleventh Doctor’s Sonic Screwdriver. This is the Doctor’s iconic multipurpose tool - a Gallifreyan device, with numerous settings, easily controlled at the press of his thumb. The Doctor has had many sonic screwdrivers of different designs throughout his life, and this latest one was created from within the TARDIS console itself after the previous one was destroyed during a confrontation with Prisoner Zero in the village of Leadworth. This new sonic is larger, with a luminous green light and continues to be an essential part of the Doctor’s equipment as he explores the universe.
Character Options’ faithful copy of the Eleventh Doctor’s Sonic Device has spring loaded extending action. Pressing the button on the side of the handle activates the LED and Sound FX which operates in CLOSED mode. Flip open the cap at the end of the Screwdriver to reveal an additional button that activates the light and sound effects when it is in full extension OPEN mode.
The Eleventh Doctor’s Crash Set and the new Sonic Screwdriver are the perfect way to celebrate the regeneration of the new Doctor and the many adventures that lie before him.
